Carolyn A. Lightfoot’s Professional Profile
Carolyn A. Lightfoot, B.S., M.A, Ed.D, Director/Chief Information Officer, Lee College Dr. Lightfoot is responsible for developing the strategic vision for the implementation of information technology at Lee College. The technology support infrastructure has enhanced the college's global distinction in teaching and learning. Dr. Lightfoot leads the college's academic and administrative telecommunications, networking, videoconferencing, distance learning and computing infrastructure that include web development, WebCT, iCampus Web Registration and technical support. One of Dr. Lightfoot's initial strategic goals for Lee College has been realized through the development of an extensive technology support environment, with more than 2,000 computers, fiber optic networks and telecommunication lines connecting major buildings and several local area networks.
The enterprise-networking infrastructure has grown from Arcnet to Gigabit over the past several years providing
network connectivity to the campus and off-site facilities. Dr. Lightfoot directs a staff of 15 employees who design, deploy and operate all technology services in support of teaching, learning and administration. She is directly responsible for an annual budget of several million dollars. Her current focus is on the maintenance and support of the PeopleSoft project that includes Student Administration, Financial and Human Resources. She is the Technical Project Director for the Chambers County Community Network Project providing high-speed wireless Internet access to the community. Dr. Lightfoot is also an adjunct professor having taught computer science courses at Houston Community College, Central Texas College, Lee College and San Jacinto Community College. She is a member of several academic and technical professional organizations and currently serves on the University of Houston-Clear Lake Alumni Board. She served as president of that organization in 1996. She also served on the board of the Bay Area Women's Center and other civic organizations. She developed computer training curriculum for Riley Chambers Community Center in Crosby, Texas which provided training for welfare to work participants through the Urban League.
She has presented many technical presentations at various conferences throughout the United States.Dr. Lightfoot previously worked for Computer Sciences Corporation as a Computer Scientist and Oracle Project Lead for NASA Johnson Space Center.She completed her bachelor's degree at Tarleton State University-Central Texas and her masters and doctoral degrees at the University of Houston. She is a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where Dr. James Lightfoot is the Pastor. She currently works with the youth department as a drama teacher and is a mentor. She is married to Rev. Edward Victor Lightfoot and they have one son, Naval Petty Officer John Edward Lightfoot, U. S. Navy who recently returned from Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Persian Gulf.
